Updates on CME/CPD Principles and Guidelines (2026-2028)

A new category of “Expert Witness Work” has been added to the Academy’s Principles and Guidelines on CME/CPD (2026-28) as a form of accredited CME/CPD activity under Section 6.16.

The main updates are highlighted as below:

6.16 Expert Witness Work
Participation as expert witness, namely in support of complaint handling or disciplinary inquiries of The Dental Council of Hong Kong (DCHK) / Medical Council of Hong Kong (MCHK), civil and criminal court proceedings, or requests for expert opinion from the Police, Coroner’s Court, the Legal Aid, etc., is also acceptable as a form of CME/CPD. Points should normally be awarded on a “per case” basis. Colleges shall exercise reasonable discretion in regard to the exact allocation of the points for each case, and set a cap of the points to be awarded to an individual Fellow in each cycle, irrespective of the number of cases handled by the Fellow.
