Following the announcement by the Chief Executive in his 2024 Policy Address that a professional platform should be established for developing evidence-based clinical guidelines and protocols as well as devising service quality and efficiency standards for the public and private healthcare sectors, the Academy was commissioned by the Government to assist in the setting up of the Institute for Medical Advancement and Clinical Excellence (IMACE). With funding support from the Government, the IMACE was officially inaugurated on 8 May 2025 with an office situated in Wong Chuk Hang and a small team of staff formed under the Academy’s Secretariat. The initiative brings together expertise from across Hong Kong’s healthcare sector, including public and private institutions, to improve patient care and promote medical innovation.
