Ensuring the proficiency of medical and dental practitioners remains a top priority for the public. In Hong Kong, the Academy is dedicated to reinforcing training and assessment frameworks across various medical/dental specialties to uphold and elevate the standards of practicing specialists.
Effective from 1 November, 2024, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine (HKJC ILCM) has evolved into the Jockey Club Institute for Medical Education and Development (JCIMED). This newly established institute now serves as the operational hub for educational programmes and activities of the Academy. Originally founded in 2013 with generous backing from The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, HKJC ILCM was conceived to address the escalating demand for advanced medical education facilities in Hong Kong. It was designed to offer a cutting-edge learning environment for healthcare professionals, integrating state-of-the-art simulation technology and innovative teaching methods.
JCIMED collaborates closely with all the Academy Colleges to streamline relevant resources and provide specialised assistance to foster the progression of initiatives associated with postgraduate medical and dental education and training. Its core responsibilities entail:
JCIMED is the education arm of the Academy, which embeds world-class simulation-based training facilities and is dedicated to fostering medical education, simulation-based learning, and research opportunities for healthcare professionals in Hong Kong. It aspires to emerge as a premier regional institute for medical education and simulation.

Faculty Development Framework (Trainers)
Further to the publication of Position Paper on Postgraduate Medical Education (2023), the Academy progressively enhance postgraduate medical education under the support of its teams, divisions and constituent Colleges. With the effort of the Faculty Development Workgroup of Hong Kong Jockey Club Innovative Learning Centre for Medicine (HKJC ILCM), the Faculty Development Framework (Trainers) has been developed to provide structural details on fostering faculty development, and thus the training quality, in a competency-based approach.
